"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." -Isaiah 9:6
Picture the humble surroundings in which the most precious infant in all history lay asleep on the hay. Mary — the loving and attentive mother — and Joseph — the worthy guardian — watch over the babe with awe and wonder, likely feeling the way all new parents have throughout the ages. And yet, they know something else. For this child, their child, will be "The mighty God, The everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6) But to them on that holy night, He and His blessed name are simply Wonderful. Let us rejoice as we reflect on this sacred event that was Christ's birth. And as we remember the magnitude of God's love in allowing His Son to leave His side and enter a world of sorrow, let us in our hearts, in our homes, and throughout our lives call Him Wonderful.
