"Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are." -John 17:11
In what is known as the great Intercessory Prayer recorded in John chapter seventeen, we witness the Savior in prayer to His Father. We see in this prayer Christ’s humility and willingness to do the work He had been given to do and His great love for us. He is our perfect example of how to pray. Prayer is an act of humility, and when we are willing to humble ourselves we find great blessings and strength. In this painting, I hoped to convey a sacred quietness: the Savior praying, without distractions, able to learn, commune, and draw strength from His Father in a way I hope we may all try to emulate.
