Joy of the Harvest

Few metaphors are more compelling than the law of the harvest: “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7) Yet every farmer knows the secret to a successful harvest is not just in the seeds, but in preparing and maintaining the soil. In the parable of the sower, we learn that the seeds that fell by the wayside, in stony places, or among thorns, failed to take root and therefore provided no fruit. Though the seeds were good, the soil was not. The message is simple: We are the keepers of our hearts. It is up to us to provide “good ground” for the Savior’s word to take root, and when we do, we will truly discover the “Joy of the Harvest.”
