"But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." -John 4:14
This painting is better known as The Headwaters of Jordan River, and it is featured in the LDS Conference Center. When I first visited Banias, or Ceasarea Phillippi, it was with a BYU tour of the Holy Land. This was the location where Christ and his disciples were sitting when Jesus asked Peter, “Whom do men say that I am?” He repeated the question until Peter answered “Thou art the Christ.” (Matthew 16:16) Christ commended Peter for his answer because its source had been heavenly rather than worldly. This same lesson applies to each of us: to be truly life-giving, our knowledge must come from the source of all knowledge, the “Living Waters” of personal revelation from God.
